Steve McDonald recently found out he’s having a baby with his wife Michelle Connor – as well as one with Leanne Battersby, who got pregnant after a one-night stand.

And as if things aren’t bad enough for the Rovers landlord, Steve (Simon Gregson) is about to receive some life-changing news.

Steve's dad, Jim McDonald phones him to tell him he has myotonic dystrophy, a disease which could potentially be passed on to him, too.

Coronation Street spoilers: Ken Barlow's son and grandson are returning

This progressive muscle wasting genetic condition, Steve soon realises, could in turn be passed onto his unborn children.

A source told The Sun: “Steve’s life was thrown into complete chaos when he discovered he had impregnated his missus – and a woman who isn’t his missus.

“And viewers will soon see Steve suffer even further when he is told he could have Myotonic dystrophy – a disorder which could ultimately be life-threatening.

“Obviously the impact of the disorder on him would be huge if he has it but as it’s genetic both his babies with Michelle and Leanne could have it too.”

Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent opens up about Sophie Webster’s exit

Steve will then have to tell Michelle (Kym Marsh) about the condition, and the potential risk of their child having it too.

The episode then sees Michelle turns to Leanne for comfort – not realising that she’s carrying Steve’s baby, too.

Eep!
