Shona, whose son Clayton is locked up for the murder of David's wife Kylie, has noticed David acting differently since that terrible day, but can't for the life of her work out what it is.
But Julia Goulding, who has played Shona since she arrived on the cobbles in 2016, has revealed exactly what's going on inside Shona's head.
She says: "Shona thinks she is the problem, she thinks that he doesn't want to be with her anymore and that he is just not telling her.
"David and Shona were very loved up over Christmas and this has literally changed overnight. She can't for the life of her think of a reason why, so she assumes it must be to do with her."
Julia reveals that Shona is completely bemused by David's actions, as one minute he is "getting aggressively sexual" and the next he will pull away when she tries it on.
When Shona addresses their lack of intimacy with him, David tells Shona to wait for him upstairs - but ends up bottling it at the last minute and sleeps on the sofa.
Of course, viewers know that this is because he can't bring himself to be intimate with anyone since he was raped, but Shona isn't aware of this.
When David ends things with her, Shona is completely devastated: "She really does love him with all of her being," Julia explains.
"But he has turned around and said that he doesn't love her. He's looked her in the eye so she is very adamant that that is it, the end. She feels very stupid."
Poor Shona!
But we heard from Metro.co.uk that Shona will discover exactly what happened to David, and will find another of Josh's victims.
Will she be able to encourage David to go to the police?
