Robert is reeling when a car accident leads to a shock cancer diagnosis!....

It’s said that bad things come in threes and that’s certainly the case for Robert next week.

The Bistro boss has been unsettled ever since Michelle pointed out a lump in his testicle. He promised his other half that he’d go to the doc to get it checked but ended up doing the exact opposite!

However next week, a shock car accident puts Robert in hospital meaning there is no escape from the medics.

Earlier on, poor Robert, who’s only recently been released from prison is minding his own business when he hears a piercing scream from Izzy and sees Ches’s little boy Joseph running across the path of an oncoming Bistro delivery car.

Quick as a flash Robert, (who has always had something of the super-hero about him in our eyes), leaps into action and pushes Joseph out of the way, only to take the full force of the bonnet himself! YIKES…

There’s panic as terrified neighbours see Robert lying in the road but thankfully he is ok, (yep, that’ll be those super-hero special powers), but nonetheless he is taken to hospital to be checked over.

When his worried girlfriend Michelle turns up to see him, she’s even more concerned after discovering from Daniel that Robert had lied to her about going to a doctor to get his lump checked out.

No-nonsense Chelle insists that he sees an urologist straight away while they’re at the hospital and it’s not long before Robert is being wheeled in for a scan.

However his worst fears are confirmed when he’s told that the lump is most likely malignant and he will need to have the testicle removed.

“He’s scared to the point of being frozen with fear”, says actor Tristan Gemmill who plays the silver-fox. “That’s why he doesn’t want to talk to anyone or do anything about it. He says to the doctor, ‘Thank you for making me aware of this- I’ll think about it’, but then he just wants to get out of the door.”

Sure enough, rather than face up to the diagnosis, Robert, who’s father died from cancer, later heads off to a casino but is irritated when Johnny insists on tagging along too.

As a poker game gets underway it’s not long before Robert is on a seriously bad losing streak. Johnny’s horrified as his chum continues to shell out more and more money and tries to drag him home, but a defiant Rob’s not having any of it.

What will Michelle do when she finds out what he’s done? Will she be able to help her man face up to his cancer or is Robert about to hit self-destruct
