The posting of revenge porn pictures and videos was made illegal last year.

And now ITV’s Coronation Street are set to tackle the highly controversial topic.

According to reports in The Sun, Steph Britton (Tisha Merry) will be left devastated when her ex-boyfriend Jamie (James Atherton) threatens to leak naked photos of her online.

Demanding money in exchange for the sensitive images, Jamie seems intent on breaking his ex’s heart.

And, despite Luke (Dean Fagan) and Maria Connor (Samia Ghadie) trying to stop him, sources have said that Steph will be left devastated when the images wind up online.

An insider told the newspaper: “The rise of revenge porn, particularly on the internet, is a very modern phenomenon and Corrie always tries to reflect what is going on in the wider society.”

“We will show how it can wreck lives.

“Poor old Steph is an innocent party and will be drawn into a situation not of her own making, which will have a devastating impact on her.”

Are you glad to hear that the soap is planning to tackle such an important topic? And do you think it will help raise awareness about revenge porn?
