Coronation Street viewers have been gripped by Michelle Connor's devastating miscarriage storyline over the past couple of weeks.
Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle, has been praised for her acting in scenes that reflect a real life situation for her after she suffered a late miscarriage at 21 weeks in 2009.
Her on-screen husband Steve is played by Simon Gregson, who recently opened up about his own family's tragic experience after his wife had 11 miscarriages. The background of the actors playing this makes the storyline even more poignant.
But viewers can be assured that the emotional turmoil isn't going to let up any time soon.
In pictures released today, we can see that Michelle will attempt to take her own life as she is seen dangling her legs over a bridge.
Scenes to be shown next week will show Michelle getting drunk at a lunch Steve has organised for them. Steve tries to suggest that she doesn't drink as much, but she lashes out at him and says it doesn't matter because she won't be breastfeeding.
She then runs off, causing a group of the street's residents to go after her. Fortunately she is found - by Robert Preston, played by Tristan Gemmill, who viewers will have noticed has recently developed feelings for Michelle.
After a long conversation and Michelle opening up to him, he successfully talks her down from the bridge, and the pair can be seen embracing.
Will Michelle seek solace in the arms of Robert?
