Mary finds herself in serious trouble when her grandson ends up in hospital again…
Angie might think she’s the mother-in-law from hell right now, but we’ve always loved Mary and her bonkers ways.
However, ever since Jude and Angie arrived on the scene with her little grandson George, it’s been one disaster after another.
Next week, things take a terrible turn when Mary looks after George, while her son and his wife go house-hunting, and the little mite becomes ill yet again.
Unfortunately there seems to be a pattern emerging here and Angie has definitely noticed it: every time the tot spends time with granny he takes a turn for the worse!
A worried Angie and Jude whisk George to hospital and Mary goes along too. However as Angie and Jude start rowing in the corridor over Mary, there’s panic when the alarm goes off in their baby’s room and the medics run is just as Mary is rushing out.
A scared Angie rips into Mary demanding to know what she’s done to their son while her desolate mother-in-law swears she would never ever do anything to harm the little tot.
"Mary is the danger, so Angie wants to eliminate her from her baby's life", says Victoria Ekanoye who plays the panicked mum. "George's health is paramount. She has a lioness approach to motherhood and is feeling very primitive and angry at the moment. Something that Mary is doing is causing harm to her baby."
An emotional Mary leaves the hospital in floods of tears and tells Norris how Jude and his wife have accused her of hurting George, but there’s fresh trouble when two protection officers turn up at her home and start quizzing her about the baby’s health.
Later on Jude turns up to see his mum to give her an update but when Mary insists she wants to see her grandson, he tells her it’s not a good idea.
However, his upset mum is determined to see him and later on she confides in Bethany, who’s back in Weatherfield.
Kind Bethany offers to help Mary and says she’ll pop along to the hospital and try and get the latest on George. However when Angie spies Mary hiding out in car park in the florists van, her blood is boiling and she’s on full alert.
What is Angie going to do next and is Mary about to find herself in very serious trouble?
