Sean Wilson AKA Martin Platt has returned to Coronation Street for a brief stint to help his son David through his rape ordeal

Corrie viewers have been ready and waiting for Martin Platt to return since he left rather abruptly in 2006.

But he'll be back on our screens in tomorrow's episode as he's back briefly to help his son David Platt through his recent rape ordeal.

After David was attacked by his supposed friend Josh Tucker on Friday, he has been retreating into himself and will seek support from his dad.

And even though Sean Wilson, who plays Martin, is only back for a few weeks on the show, he's now sparked rumours that he could be set to return to the soap FULL TIME.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Sean revealed that although his exit from the soap 12 years ago had been less than amicable, his experience this time around had been much more pleasant.

He said: "Lots of things have changed. There was a juxtapose of editorial thoughts at the time and I morally felt that I had to stand very, very firm on the decision that I made and I think we all know what went on there so there came a parting of ways."

He added that "things move on," and that the "scripts were ace," which he was "pleasantly surprised with" due to the fact that Martin has been away for 12 years.

He even said that there was a "real positivity about the place" and that he "couldn't have asked for a better way to come back."

Sean said: "I had lots of thinking time. There’s so much depth there that I would have thought editorially it would have to be thought about that he came back again but whether they act upon it is completely up to the powers that be. I’d definitely be up for it."

EEK. We would LOVE Martin to be back on the cobbles!
