With Georgia May Foote set to head to Hollywood in the not-so-distant future, we knew we'd have to bid goodbye to her Corrie character Katy Armstrong.
And now the actress has opened up about the details surrounding Katy's exit.
Speaking with the Radio Times, she explained that Katy is desperate to - along with son Joseph - head to Portugal to try and start a new life overseas.
Unfortunately ex-boyfriend Chesney isn't happy with the idea of his son being taken so far away from him, so Georgia's character winds up cancelling her plans.
But, in what turns out to be her final week in Weatherfield, Katy will be seen having a heart-to-heart to Chesney after he comes to her aid during a drunken confrontation with Callum (Sean Ward).
She explained: "Ches runs over to rescue her, which is when Katy breaks down and realises how stupid she's been.
"Talking everything through with Chesney makes her realise that she's made so many mistakes and that she should never have broken Chesney's heart in the first place.
"She says that she's always cared about him and always will. But Katy knows that he's now with Sinead and she respects their relationship."
Their frank exchange helps Chesney realise that he is the only thing standing in the way of Katy's dreams - and he gives her and Joseph his blessing to move abroad, as he knows they'll have a better life in Portugal.
"She's really shocked. It feels like a whirlwind," explained Georgia.
"Chesney knocks her sideways as she wasn't expecting him to change his mind. She doesn't waste any time and books the flights in that same hour!"
Katy will apparently even wind up having a chat with Sinead before she leaves - and even hands her ex's new partner some tickets to Portugal, so that she and Chesney can visit in the future.
But will katy and Jospeh ever return to Weatherfield?
Never say never, we suppose.
Georgia said simply: "She needs to get away from her regrets, from feeling bad about what she did to Ches, and try something new instead.
"It'll be a good chance for her to do some thinking and growing up."
