Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Platt in Coronation Street, may have let slip a major casualty of the Coronation Street live episode.

Speaking with The Mirror, he said: “My contract is up in September, after the live…” before dwindling off.

When asked if he would negotiate a longer contract, the actor confusedly added: “I think so.”

Does this mean that David will fall foul of villainous Callum’s revenge plot?

After all, Jack recently confirmed to STV.tv that the live episode will be focusing on drug dealer Callum Logan and the Platts.

“It’s a real vendetta against the whole family and then in the live the story is coming to a head,” Jack explained.

When they asked whether he and wife Kylie, played by Paula Lane, are strong enough to survive Callum’s reign of terror – or if this could be the final nail in the coffin of their shaky relationship.

The actor replied: “It could be. You mention coffin... it could be."

Hmm.

If Jack P Shepherd isn’t just teasing us, and he REALLY is bowing out of the soap, there’s a small chance that old co-star Helen Flanagan could be there for his final performance.

Yup, rumours that Rosie Webster is making a return to the cobbles have already begun to circulate.

Speaking to the Mirror, Michael Le Vell, who plays Rosie’s dad Kevin, said: “We miss her. It would’ve been great had we been able to bring her back for a couple of episodes.”

Brooke Vincent, who plays Rosie’s younger sister Sophie, added: “She’s just had a baby, so I don’t think she’ll come back.”

Well, we guess we’ll have to wait and see if Rosie does make a surprise appearance in the live episode.

Roll on the 23rd September, eh? We’re on tenterhooks!
