It’s time to crack open the champagne when Toyah gets some fantastic news…
Toyah is on cloud nine next week when she gets the news that she’s been so desperate to hear: her surrogate, Jackie, is pregnant!
Leanne’s little sis, can hardly contain her joy when she gets a phonecall from Jackie breaking the glad tidings, that she’s expecting Toyah and Peter’s little one.
We’ve seen poor Toyah go through months of heart-break and failed rounds of IVF, meanwhile she’s had to watch her sister Leanne give birth to baby Oliver, (the result of a drunken one-night stand with Steve McDonald) and Eva PRETEND to be pregnant with Aidan’s child. She’s been surrounded by nappies and baby-bumps for what seems like an eternity, so it’s no wonder she’s grinning like a Cheshire cat when she finally learns she’s going to be a mum herself.
It was cobbles-dweller, Izzy, who first suggested surrogacy to Toyah having gone through the process herself and paid Tina McIntyre to have her and Gary’s baby. So will it be plain-sailing for surrogate Jackie? And what kind of parents will Toyah and Peter make?
Georgia Taylor who plays Toyah says, “Peter and Toyah have lot of love to offer a child. Toyah has wanted this for so long and while Peter has his demons, if he can keep winning that fight he has a lot to give.”
Peter, who has a son, Simon, seems to take the news in his stride. Georgia adds, “When Peter is with Simon there are glimmers of the brilliant dad he can be and Toyah admires that.”
We’re delighted for the happy couple. How handy that they live in a pub and can crack open a large bottle of bubbly….oh…hang on….make that a large glass of orange juice for Peter and maybe a bag of celebratory Pork Scratchings. However we can’t help feeling there may be trouble ahead. Let’s face it, since when has a pregnancy or birth ever gone smoothly in Soapland? Er…that’ll be NEVER!
Will Jackie’s pregnancy go to plan or are Peter and Toyah in for a bumpy ride and, dare we say it, another dose of heartache?
