Coronation Street has confirmed that it will be adding an extra weekly episode starting this month, after a year in the pipelines.

The show, which first announced it was changing its schedule last summer, has announced that the sixth weekly episode will be aired on Wednesdays at 8.30pm - meaning lucky Corrie fans will get extra helpings on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. YAY.

The extra episode will roll out for the first time on Wednesday, September 20, and then every week from then on.

This will come at the perfect time, as Eva, Aidan, Jenny & Johnny are all set to tie the knot in a double wedding. And if we know soap operas, weddings ALWAYS equals drama.

The soap is also carrying out construction work in order to deliver "more exterior filming opportunities" and extra studio space...so we might see some new areas on our screens in spring.

Speaking about the soap’s new ventures, Coronation Street executive producer Kieran Roberts said: "Getting ready to deliver our extra weekly episode has taken our amazing team more than a year of hard work on everything from story-lining to studio building.

"Now we're thrilled to be launching our extra weekly episode on Wednesday, September 20 at the heart of a truly unmissable week of high drama, high emotion, and heartwarming comedy."
