Some incredible throwback pictures have resurfaced of Coronation Street legend Barbara Knox filming on location in Majorca back in the 70s
The episode, which aired in 1974, was the first Coronation Street installment to be filmed abroad and occurred when Weatherfield resident Bet Lynch (Julie Goodyear) won a trip to the holiday island and took along all her friends from the cobbles, including Barbara’s character Rita Sullivan and Deirdre Barlow, played by Anne Kirkbridge.
A then 40 year old Barbara had played the character of Rita on and off since 1964, but had only been taken on full time two years previously, in 1972.
Now 85, Barbara looks to have aged gracefully since the glam throwback pictures were taken, which show her lounging by the pool in a classy black cut out swimming costume.
