Coronation Street actor Marc Anwar has been sacked from the soap after an alleged racist Twitter attack.

In a shocking tirade, the star branded Indian people “btards” and “p*ss-drinking cts”, according to the Sunday Mirror.

He also reportedly referred to Indian people as killers and appeared to suggest Pakistani people should refuse to work there.

After learning of the messages, Marc, who played Sharif Nazir, was asked to leave the ITV show within hours.

Bosses said in a statement: “We are deeply shocked by the entirely unacceptable, racially offensive comments made on Twitter by Marc Anwar.

“We have talked to Marc and, as a consequence of his comments, he will not be returning to Coronation Street with immediate effect.”

His posts on the social media site came after 17 soldiers were killed sparking UN tensions between India and Pakistan.

Marc wrote: “Why the f_ck do #pakistaniartists want to work in #f_ce face #India, do you love money so much?”

The then shared a picture of a clenched fist, adding: “Ban #India movies #PakistanisLeaveIndia. Btards p*ss drinking #cnts.”

He then moved on to target Indian politicians, writing that they were “killing our #Kashmir brothers and sisters”.

Corrie writers are now working to script Marc’s sudden departure from the programme.

A source told they paper: “They had to act quickly to avoid any controversy affecting the show and this is a small price to pay.

“They just feel deeply frustrated that he had to air his feelings so publicly.”
