Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany Platt on Coronation Street, has today revealed that evil Nathan is going to try and sell the 17-year-old abroad

Coronation Street viewers watched in absolute horror last week as 17-year-old Bethany Platt was gang-raped by three of evil Nathan's friends at a sex party.

Thankfully, Shona alerted the Platt family and the police came to shut it down - but not before Bethany's horrific ordeal.

As we saw on Friday, Nathan was arrested - but Lucy has today revealed that this isn't the end of the story just yet...

The 21-year-old actress spoke to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning earlier today about the storyline.

Holly drew attention to the fact that even though Nathan has now been arrested, Bethany is still under his spell: "He's so manipulative and it's going to take a really long time for her to realise what's happened to her."

She also added that she would have to realise it on her own, as no amount of telling from her family will make her see it: "She's not going to know the full extent of what's happened to her until she can realise it on her own."

Phil asked her whether she'd felt daunted by the storyline, and she said: "It's a big responsibility because people really do go through things like this and I've met quite a lot of those people. But once I realised how important this storyline was, I just really wanted to do it justice for all the survivors."

The presenter then brought up Nathan's evil friend Neil, who is in on the whole thing and who has raped Bethany in the past - and who is in fact a police officer.

Whilst Lucy described his job as a "shocking turn in the story", she coyly encouraged viewers to keep watching, because "they WILL get their comeuppance eventually - they have to."

She did go on to describe what will happen in coming episodes too - Nathan will tell Bethany to lie to her family and say that they have split up, then tell her to get her passport so that they can escape the country together.

She said: "For Bethany that's quite exciting - but really, what he wants to do is sell her in another country."

Just when we thought this storyline couldn't get any more harrowing.

But whilst it is tough to watch, it's incredibly important that it's shown when it is so that younger people might see what's happening and either speak up if they themselves are in a vulnerable situation, or it might help them to stay away from it in the future.

Phil brought up that Corrie had received quite a few Ofcom complaints about the storyline, but read out Corrie bosses' statement: "Coronation Street viewers will be aware that evil Nathan has been grooming Bethany for many months. It's an extremely complex and thought-provoking story which has been meticulously researched and hasn't been undertaken lightly by the programme's production team.

"In accordance with strict compliance regulations, what happens to Bethany was intentionally implicit and viewers were warned prior to transmission."

Lucy added that she had already had victims of sexual abuse come up to her in the street and thank her for what she is doing.

She revealed that one of those took place at the vigil in Manchester after the terrible attack at Ariana Grande's concert: "It was really emotional anyway and I was already really upset, and a lady came up to me and asked whether she could whisper something to me."

"I thought she was just going to say that she really loved the show, but she said, 'I just want to say that I was abused by my dad when I was younger, so I really appreciate what Corrie is doing'."

Lucy became a bit teary recounting the story, and said: "It was so emotional to hear but when I hear things like that, I think it just shows to the people who are complaining that this is so important for people that have gone through this and who are still going through this."
