Debbie Rush, who plays Anna Windass in Coronation Street, has announced her decision to leave the soap
Debbie Rush has played Anna Windass in Coronation Street for nine years, and fast became one of Weatherfield's most popular characters.
But Debbie has announced her decision to leave the show and move on to pastures new.
Whilst Corrie fans will be sad to hear of her departure, we've been assured that her exit storyline will be EXPLOSIVE - as we would expect for such a well-loved character.
Debbie released a statement on her departure from the show: "I have had an amazing nine years on Coronation Street and the decision to leave was not made lightly.
"I love playing Anna and will miss working with the fantastic cast and crew.
"I don't know what the future holds but I am excited to explore what other acting opportunities are out there.
"I am very grateful for all the brilliant storylines I have been given during my time on Coronation Street and am very much looking forward to what is in store for Anna in the run up to my departure next year."

So it sounds as though she's not got anything planned upon the leaving the show - but perhaps she's throwing a red herring out there.
Debbie got into acting a bit later on than most actors, and Corrie was one of the first shows she ever landed.
After being nominated for Best Actress at the British Soap Awards 2015, it was heartwarming to see Debbie's skill being recognised - after all, she has had some PRETTY heavy storylines over the last nine years.
Producer Kate Oates said: "It's always sad when a huge talent like Debbie Rush decides to move to pastures new.
"But Debbie's decision to pursue other roles will allow us to play an exciting exit story for Anna, which will see her fighting for her family and tackling old enemies head-on."
Ooh. Now THAT sounds exciting... Which old enemies?! Phelan? Sally? Gail?! Is GAIL going to bump Anna off?!
A Corrie spokesperson confirmed that Anna would be in the show until next year: "Debbie will leave Coronation Street at the end of the year.
"Anna Windass will be on-screen until early 2018, with plenty more drama and twists in the tale before she leaves Weatherfield. We wish Debbie every success for the future."
With Kevin considering cheating on Anna, we're wondering whether that will have anything to do with Anna's exit storyline.
And will she be killed off? Or will there be the chance for her to return in the future?! WE NEED TO KNOW.
