Coronation Street fans were left baffled by yesterday’s episode when Bethany Platt seemingly failed to notice the fire raging at Chesney Brown and Gemma Winter’s house.

Scenes where Bethany headed to the garage to speak to Abi Franklin about Ray Crosby show a fire blazing inside No. 5, but Bethany is none the wiser – despite being just feet away from the inferno.

Viewers took to Twitter to express their confusion, with one writing, “Didn’t Bethany see the fire from across the street she was looking directly at it #coronationstreet”.

“Someone tell me how Bethany and the car lady didn’t see the flames at Chesney’s house when they were standing right opposite it?!??" said another.

After their mum, Bernie Winter, got back in touch with her ex-boyfriend Kel, Paul began to realise that the secret relationship he’d had with Kel when he was a child was abuse, and made the decision to give a statement to police.
