Coronation Street is reportedly pulling kissing scenes from the soap in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus.
The scandalous affairs in soapland make up a good chunk of the storylines and so banning romance from the episodes is a major move, as ITV do their bit to help the situation.
“All of the soaps are desperate to keep running,” a source told The Sun.
“If they disappear out of the schedules there’s huge gaps which is a major headache.
“Coronation Street shoots about six to eight weeks in advance, so viewers might see some kissing in the next month or so, but the scenes they’re shooting right now will have nothing of the sort in. They are taking no chances.
“The longer they can keep cast and crew well, the better, and if a storyline has to suffer slightly by losing a kiss so be it.”
ITV also confirmed, “Scenes with kissing or close contact are being altered to minimise contact.”

Coronation Street isn’t the only major soap to make changes during the pandemic, with BBC’s EastEnders announcing earlier today that it would be postponing filming and cutting episodes down to just two a week to spread out their current content.
A statement read, “In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that filming on EastEnders will be postponed until further notice. The decision was made after the latest government update.
“We have also taken the decision to reduce the amount of episodes we broadcast each week to two, so that we can ensure the audience can continue to enjoy EastEnders in their homes for as long as possible."
Other BBC soaps Holby City, Doctors and Casualty are also halting production.
