Coronation Street viewers were shocked following that double murder scene involving Phelan, Andy and Vinny

Coronation Street will be investigated by watchdog Ofcom following their double murder episode which received 390 complaints.

Eek!

Viewers of the ITV show were shocked last Friday after evil Pat Phelan forced poor Andy Carver (who he has kept locked up for months) to kill Vinny. Things then took a chilling turn for the worst when the cruel villain turned on his prisoner and shot him.

A lot of viewers were outraged at the dramatic events that unfolded pre-watershed, even TV presenter Fern Britton admitted the show went too far. She wrote on Twitter: "Oh #Corrie, this is too grim and just not right.

"Oh #Corrie yes performances, script and storyline good but ITS NOT CORRIE!"

Other viewers took to Twitter to air their dismay, one person said: "#coronationstreet Sorry Corrie. You’ve overstepped the mark. You went too too dark for our Family Fave. Your time is up. Cheerio."

Another commented: "#coronationstreet has got very dark and Pat's actions are getting disturbing.. The light side of #corrie has vanished...😠👎"

A third wrote: "This #coronationstreet storyline is a bit dark for this hour! It’s like watching a crap horror film @itv"

Someone else pointed out: "Too dark, too violence and turning into EastEnders. All before the watershed, awful. this isn't coronation street anymore."

One more added: "#coronationstreet omg that was shocking, fancy putting a shooting on this early! Way too much before watershed! Gone too far 😡😡😡"

As a result of the amount of complaints the ITV show received, Ofcom have confirmed they'll look into the complaints. A spokesperson for Ofcom has said: "We will assess these complaints before deciding whether or not to investigate.”

This isn’t the first time Corrie has come under fire for its storylines, last year they received the most Ofcom complaints out of all the soaps.

Eek!

We reckon that might have something to do this Eva Price's comment which some people questioned as racist.
