Edwina Currie explained that she has decided to go on the show because she wants to continue having adventures at her stage of life.
She said: "I am 68 and I like having adventures.
"If an advanced stage of life is not an adventure, then you might as well give up on everything.
"This will certainly be something I have never experienced before."
Meanwhile heartthrob Jake, 26, has said he signed up for the jungle just weeks after his X Factor dreams were shattered.
He said: "Things like this don't happen to me. I am just a normal bloke.
"I am going to take this opportunity with both hands. I want to relish everything that is thrown at me. I actually haven't stopped grinning since I got offered this."
I'M A CELEBRITY 2014: GEMMA COLLINS WILL BE PAID DESPITE QUITTING AFTER THREE DAYS
The pair will hopefully prove to be more equipped to jungle life than former campmate Gemma Collins, who left the show after just three days.
Coronation Street star Craig Charles has also been forced to quit the show following the sudden death of his older brother Dean.
