The 42-year-old plays Vincent Hubbard in the BBC One soap. who viewers were shocked to see has history with Ronnie Mitchell as well as being the father of Kim Fox’s baby.
Speaking to Closer Online at the Tesco Mum of the Year awards, Richard said that ‘Enders bosses are keeping him just as much in the dark about his character.
He said: “EastEnders do that on purpose. EastEnders is always one step ahead of its viewers. They write something that will throw you a curveball. You have to keep watching – I don’t know what’s to come.”
But what Richard does know is that Vincent’s story will continue to shock fans. He added: “What I can tell you is his storyline is very meaty – the stuff I have read. It goes to places you don’t expect.”
During live week Jo Joyner [Tanya Branning] made a slip-up, calling Ian Beale by his real name Adam Woodyatt. Luckily for Richard his debut went smoothly, but he insists viewers wouldn’t know either way.
He said: “In my scenes nothing went wrong, I can’t speak for anybody else. You have to remember, as actors, we know whatever you see on the screen, you don’t know otherwise.
“We may get a look wrong, or say the wrong word, but you don’t know that.”
Something fans want to know is will Vincent work things out with Kim, or will he and Ronnie get reacquainted when she finally recovers?
But Richard isn’t bothered either way, adding: “I’m cool whichever way he goes.”
