Corrie actor LEAVES soap following sexual assault allegations

A actor has left Coronation Street following an internal inquiry according to the ITV soap.

Bruno Langley, who has played Todd Grimshaw for 16 years, has left the show after reports emerged that he had assaulted a woman at a bar.

ITV confirmed Bruno's departure and said in a statement, '"Bruno Langley is no longer contracted to Coronation Street."

The actor denies any wrong-doing and says a further statement will be out 'in due course'.

He said of leaving Coronation Street: '"Playing the role of Todd Grimshaw since I was 17 years old has been a huge part of my life, and an absolute honour.

"I would like to thank all of my friends who work on the show for their love, friendship and support during this extremely difficult period.

"I will make a further statement in due course, and when I am able to do so.

The incident in question was said to happened at the Band in the Wall nightclub.

A police spokeswoman confirmed: "At around 1am on Sunday, 1st October 2017, police received a report a woman in her 30s had been sexually assaulted at an entertainment venue.

"Inquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made."

Soap bosses are desperately trying to rework his character's scenes and find a way to explain Todd's sudden departure from the soap.
