When little Henry Gallagher appeared on the Britain’s Got Talent stage this weekend, nobody knew what to expect from the Wigan schoolboy.

Cue him unveiling an entirely original new song ‘Lightening’ - which he penned himself about a girl he liked at school - and showcasing some seriously awesome guitar skills in the process.

However, while Henry got a standing ovation from the audience at his audition, viewers watching from their sofas were less than impressed.

The controversy was sparked when the capo on the 12-year-old’s guitar appeared to jump to a new position mid song.

Some viewers speculated that this meant the youngster had been allowed to perform twice - and that he had, therefore, been given priority over other hopefuls.

One viewer wrote angrily: “@BGT so how come the young lad Henry started off with the Capo on 9th fret on guitar and ended on the 1st.

“It's called dubbing, deceiving.”

Another added: “Not only can Henry sing, he's got some serious magical powers, moving the capo mid way through his act #BGT #continuity #taketwo?”

However, despite the uproar on social media, Simon Cowell and the rest of the Britain’s Got Talent team have spoken out to defend the talented youngster.

A spokeswoman told the press: "Henry performed his song only once during his audition and sang and played his guitar live, moving the capo mid song.

"As with all performances Henry’s act went through normal editing procedures hence the capo appearing to move."

It is worth pointing out that many TV talent shows are forced to cut down auditions to fit into their episode time restrictions.

This is done to ensure that the stage is set up correctly, not to mention any camera and lighting angles that need to be changed.

Either way, there’s no dying that Henry is a little popstar in the making; the talented lad definitely deserved his four yeses in our opinion.
