Butter our crumpets and call us Dot. The ultra glamorous Hollywood personality, and the face of hapless romantics, Renee Zellwegger, revealed she got her inspiration for the role of Bridget Jones from Pat Butcher and Phil Mitchell. (sort of)
Renee, who hails from Texas, recently revealed that when preparing for her role as Bridget, as well as putting on two stone, she immersed herself in British culture.
The reason she succeeded in making such an authentic English character is through watching soaps such as Eastenders, listening to the Archers to grasp the accent, and watching Ali G to get clued up on British humour.
In an interview Renee admitted: "I read magazines to see who were the current-day icons in English culture, to get an idea about who she might aspire to emulate. After a while I was humming along to Spice Girls songs."
Renee is returning to the silver screen after six years away from Hollywood in the new film Bridget Jones' Baby.
“I planned to take some time off after Chicago, but there kept being once-in-a-lifetime experiences in front of me that I didn’t want to miss out on,” the 47-year-old actress said.
During her hiatus she travelled to Thailand, Cambodia and Liberia to work with gender-equality charity, The Great Initiative, with friend and journalist Mariella Frostrup.
The new film, Bridget Jones' Baby is due for release on 16th September and asks the big question... Are you team Jack or team Darcy? Let us know on Twitter (@CloserOnline) or Facebook
