We’ve been waiting for MONTHS to find out who killed Lucy Beale on Good Friday 2014 - and, tonight, finally we were told what happened.
She was bumped over the head with her own music box by none other than BOBBY BEALE - her apparently deranged younger brother.
“Whatever she tells you,” he spat at mum Jane, who looked just as horrified as the rest of the nation, “she started it.”
We’re sure she did, Bobby - we’re sure she did.
It finally all makes sense as to why Jane (Laurie Brett) was hiding murder evidence like there was no tomorrow, merrily shoving Lucy’s mobile phone under the floorboards.
And we guess it makes sense as to why she spirited him away to Cardiff with her shortly before Lucy’s funeral - she was trying to protect him, like any fierce lioness of a mother should.
But what doesn’t make sense, to a lot of viewers at least, is the fact that an 11-year-old managed to a) commit murder and b) play it so damn cool.
Cue them flocking to Twitter to have their say on the big reveal - and make a LOT of hilarious jokes as they did so, too:
Amazing. Just amazing.
But EastEnders still have a LOT of work to do - and, with an entirely live episode planned for Friday 20th February (aka tomorrow), the cast are going to have to get over their shock and press on.
We want to know WHY Bobby returned to Walford to find Lucy’s killer (selective amnesia?). We want to know if Ian will forgive Jane for shipping his daughter’s body to Walford Common. We want to know if Peter and Lauren will GET BACK TOGETHER AND LEAVE THIS TERRIBLE PLACE, ONCE AND FOR ALL.
Yup, there’s a lot of information we still need in our lives. And, until we get it, we won’t be able to rest.
Roll on tomorrow night - it’s going to be one killer of an episode.
