Millions of viewers tune in to I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! every year, and every year, the calibre of tasks befallen the Z-listers gets lower and lower... and by lower and lower, we mean more and more depraved.
And by more and more depraved, we mean hilarious, entertaining and all-round excellent television viewing, naturally.
Over the years we've seen some funny ones, dreadful ones and the ones that we never actually do see, because one of the celebs quits halfway through . . . (Remember, Gillian McKeith, Helen Flanagan, Gemma Collins?).
To celebrate the return of our fave reality show we thought we’d look back and celebrate some of the best Bushtucker Trials ever …
11. Kangaroo’s anus, anyone?
As Bushtucker's go, the eating trials have to be one of the most entertaining (and disgusting but mainly entertaining!).
Over the years, Ant and Dec have made celebrities eat all sorts of animal body parts, from bull penis to witchetty grub, but Adam Thomas putting an ACTUAL live spider in his mouth still gives us nightmares…
10. Hope the bed bugs don’t bite…
Sleeping in the jungle can prove tricky, what with all the snakes and spiders that roam the jungle floor. But I’m a Celebrity makes sure the stars face up to their fears in the Bed Bugs Challenge, sticking them in with the worst creepy crawlies imaginable for the night. While they suffer, we at home crack open the popcorn and watch them squirm. It takes a lot to beat Ashley Robert’s commentary of the rats that invaded her bed who started, ahem, romancing each other.
9. Tissue, Fatima?
The Fill Your Face Trial is definitely one of the best, and probably most memorable for the 'work' of one particular contestant. Or one particular contestant’s nose, should we say.
We don’t think anyone can forget when Fatima got a cockroach stuck up her nostril, requiring Dr Bob’s assistance to get it out.
The footage of her continuous blowing and yakking, with bugs falling out her nostrils, was the most disgusting part of the trial - but of course, the most entertaining.
8. Area 52
Grown men squealing over tiny bugs is pretty funny, and one of the reasons I’m a Celebrity continues to entertain. But coming face to face with a fully grown ostrich? A feat of production genius.
Watching Keiron Dyer try and calmly deal with a live ostrich has to be one of the most entertaining pieces of television - possibly ever - especially because after he left the ostrich room in Area 52 it came after him to give him a little nip, cornering him in a room full of spiders. Comedy gold!
7. It’s a bird, it’s a plane – it’s a celebrity!
One of the best challenges is the first thing the celebrities encounter – the skydive. Countless celebrities have jumped out of the helicopter and it always proves to be amazing TV.
And how could we forget the arrival (almost) of TOWIE's Gemma Collins? Exactly like "the Turtle and the Slug", except that Gemma actually withdrew from the competition on day three. Also, we think she meant the Tortoise and the Hare.
6. The Cyclone
Ok, so it might not be the scariest of trials, but it definitely looks fun. The celebrities wear little superhero outfits and battle huge jets of water, air and miscellaneous flying objects - but this heartwarming trial from 2015 shows the true power of team work.
5. Better hold your breath…
Drown and Out is possibly one of the most terrifying trials that the evil I'm A Celebrity bosses have ever thought of...
You stick a celebrity in a tank, lock them in, and then fill it up with water – horrifying. Even worse – they shove a load of creepy crawlies in there with them. While the horror of this trail is entertaining, watching Melanie Sykes completely boss it and overcome one of her biggest fears was empowering.
4. Catacombs of Doom
Everything seems worse in the dark and I’m a Celebrity knows exactly how to exploit this. The Catacombs of Doom plunges a celeb into dark, confined spaces – with bucket loads of insects and rodents. This trial proved too scary for Kendra Wilkinson in series 14 so she bailed. Tinchy Stryder gave it a go and, although he did much better, even he was quivering in his tinchy little boots.

I'm A Celebrity... series 9: Kim Woodburn
We mainly associate Kim with her January 2017 Celebrity Big Brother appearance and vast array of original insults. BUT, before all that Kim battled Bushtucker Trials in the ninth series of I'm A Celebrity. Series 9 winner: Gino D'Acampo.

I'm A Celebrity... series 11: Sinitta
When we think of Sinitta, we mainly just think of that time she rocked up to The X Factor Judges' Houses wearing nothing but leaves - so it's easy to forget she enjoyed a brief stint in the Jungle in 2011. Series 11 winner: Dougie Poynter.

You'll be forgiven for forgetting about Spencer's I'm A Celeb stint as he was in the Jungle for about five minutes (five days). Spenny had to quit the show in 2015 'on medical grounds'.Series 15 winner: Vicky Pattinson.
I'm A Celebrity... series 16: Lisa Snowdon

I'm A Celebrity... series 17: Rebekah Vardy
Her TV career has been a bit overshadowed by the whole Wagatha Christie drama with Coleen Rooney, so you might not remember that Becky actually entered the jungle in 2017. She was sadly eliminated in third place though.Series 17 winner: Georgia 'Toff' Toffolo
I'm A Celebrity... series 18: Noel Edmonds
Veteran TV presenter joined camp as a late entrant but he didn't stick around for long as he became the first contestant to be eliminated.Series 18 winner: Harry Redknapp
I'm A Celebrity... series 19: Andrew Maxwell
"WHO?!", we hear you cry. Andrew Maxwell isn't as big as some of his fellow campmates like Jacqueline Jossa, Ian Wright and Caitlyn Jenner so you'll be forgiven if he's slipped your mind, but he's a Scottish comedian and does the voiceover for Ex on the Beach.Series 19 winner: Jacqueline Jossa
I'm A Celebrity... series 20: Hollie Arnold
Although she became fast friends with her campmates, Paralmpian Holly didn't make quite the same impression on viewers and was the first star to be eliminated from the 2020 series.Series 20 winner: Giovanna Fletcher
3. Absolute Boulder Dash
While the terror-factor on this one is fairly mild, the sheer physical exertion makes it a solid choice for a trial. Boulder Dash requires a celebrity to shuffle along a beam to get stars, avoiding the swinging boulders overhead. Carl Fogarty getting smacked in the head with it was a real highlight (no, you're immature).
We'd love to see this one return for 2018.
2. Jungle Spa
An oldie but a goodie, and definitely a viewer favourite. The 'slebs are more used to treatments than torture, so the bosses at ITV decided to cut them some slack at the Jungle Spa. Kind of. One of the best clients was EastEnders' Dean Gaffney for comedy factor alone – who knew he had such an impressive range?
1. THE LIVE TRIAL
Two words: Gillian McKieth.
