First off, the infamous BBC cooking show - that racks in millions of viewers every episode -announced that the programme will be moving to Channel 4. Shortly after, Mel and Sue made all our hearts break when they announced that they're quitting the show.
Now, it's been reported that the BBC could create their own rivalry cooking show now that GBBO has moved to another channel.
Earlier this week Channel 4 tweeted: "We're delighted to announce that we have a bun in the oven. #GBBO is coming to Channel 4!"
To say the news was met with dismay would be an understatement. Especially when everyone realised the move to Channel 4 would mean we'd have to sit through the accompanying adverts.
As if that wasn't enough, it was then announced that Mel and Sue had stepped down from presenting the cooking show.
In a joint statement, they said: "We've had the most amazing time on Bake Off, and have loved seeing it rise and rise like a pair of yeasted Latvian baps.
"We're not going with the dough. We wish all the future bakers every success."
Since the famous duo quit the show, we've all been left wondering who will replace them. On This Morning Holly Willoughby and Phillip Scofield confirmed that they will not be replacing the presenters but there are still lots of speculation surrounding who will be replacing Mel and Sue.
And now there are rumours that the BBC might create their own rivalry cooking show. A TV insider source reportedly told The Sun: "Let's face it, sticking four people in a tent and making them cook is hardly rocket science.
"Mary and Paul could do that under a different name, in a different location."
They added that it would save them from moving to Channel 4.
That is true…
However, Jay Hunt (Channel 4's chief creative officer) wrote in the Daily Telegraph: "Great British Bake Off will have a safe home. The show of soggy bottoms and good crumb will be made by exactly the same team who have always made it."
They added: "We love it just as it is."
Thank God!
GBBO producer couple have split
It's recently come to light that the married producers behind the show - Richard McKerrow and Anna Beattie - have split. A source revealed to The Sun that they split amicably over a year ago, partly due to the stress of GBBO.
They explained: "The strain of putting together such a successful TV show was partly to blame in the end. It was tough on them."
