Because the BBC has confirmed plans to launch a new show – focusing on over 65s.

According to a channel source, the fame-hungry OAPs will let the cameras into their lives for a six-part series to be shown on BBC Four.

The show is called Close To The Edge and, as well as The Only Way Is Essex-style fun, the stars will also discuss serious issues that affect the older generation.

A reality show full of people like Nanny Pat would be amazing, wouldn't it?

Executive producer Karl Warner said: “Television about old age tends to be focused on single issues but Close To The Edge combines drama and documentary to help give a voice to a broader range of stories being lived out by the over 65s.

“The cast are complex, funny and outspoken – and like most things in life, get better with age.”

While we love watching GC, Bobby Norris and co, there’s no denying that a reality show based on OAP wannabes from Bournemouth has the potential to be amazing.

Apparently one of the case members is UKIP fundraiser Vanessa Coleman, who went to jail in 2006 for running prostitution venues.

If they’re all like Vanessa – we can’t wait! And maybe Nanny Pat could make a crossover appearance?
