As one of the most controversial shows on TV, Naked Attraction has made quite a name for itself. Closer Magazine caught up with the show's brave host - Anna Richardson - to talk dating, life with Sue Perkins and, of course, getting NAKED!
She’s hosted shows investigating everything from secret eating to sex education, but Anna Richardson is back for another series of Channel 4’s nude dating show, Naked Attraction. And the 46-year-old promises it’s going to be “bigger, bolder and more entertaining.”
Each week, Naked Attraction sees two contestants meet six potential dates, who are all completely naked. Once the contestant makes their choice, it’s their turn to strip off to make sure all parties are happy.

Speaking to Closer, Anna says getting naked first helps avoid any disappointment in the bedroom. She admits: “So many times, I’ve really fancied somebody, gone on a date, got home, got my kit off and thought, “You looked cool in your skinny jeans, but you’ve got this skinny white body, what am I going to do with that?’”
Dating apps, Anna says, have a lot to answer for. The presenter reveals that all of the contestants on the show are “sick to death of online dating, where there is so much dishonesty.”
She adds: “We get so caught up in dating profiles. What we wear and what we do for a living says so much about us and yet when you strip away all of those filters, who are we really? What do you really find attractive? If you’re naked, you can feel whether you’ve got that chemistry straight away.”
These days, Anna avoids the dating world herself, since she’s happily settled with partner Sue Perkins, 47. The couple met at a mutual friend’s party in 2014, following Anna’s split from her partner of 18 years, film director Charles Martin. A romantic at heart, Anna has described the meeting as, “one of the most extraordinary, memorable evenings where literally the planets aligned.”
But now the presenters live together and life’s much more domesticated.
Anna says: “We’re like any couple that have been together for a few years; we do bicker and squabble. We’re two very strong women and we’re like best friends – you’re always going to end up bickering with your best mate. But we absolutely respect and love each other and I think that’s the best relationship you could ask for.”
While Naked Attraction hits the TV next week, Anna and Sue will be jetting off on their annual trip to their “favourite ever holiday destination in Ibiza.”
The presenter says: “We’re two old birds; we do a little bit of partying and bit of relaxation. Some of my family will be joining us out there too.”
And Anna says her family are great supporters of Naked Attraction. She reveals: “They’re overwhelmingly positive because it’s an honest conversation about sexuality, gender, desire, and attraction. Like me, Sue’s a very open and honest person and we support anything that starts a conversation about honesty and sexuality.”
This year, the show breaks new barriers with the inclusion of the first transgender contestants, something that Anna is really excited about. “We have a round where with a transgender male and a transgender female, and the picker is pan-sexual. This hasn’t been done on television before and I think it really opens that conversation around identity," she explained.
“We’ve lots of success stories from this season; one couple have already gone on holiday and half of the couples said they’ve found love.”
Most importantly, the contestants feel comfortable getting their kit off and Anna says she’s surprised how kind everyone is.
She adds: “When they’re stripped of everything, you see the real person and the support that every single person has for each other is brilliant. You never hear anybody saying: ‘Oh I didn’t like her or he had a really tiny c***’– everyone is really lovely and we need more of that in life."

"I have never been more terrified in my life...they ended up jumping off the balcony to get out.
"I ended up legging it down the corridor with no clothes on screaming for help."
She was left so traumatised that she had to take time off work and was "heavily medicated" which also left her with severe anxiety, panic attacks and agoraphobia.
