Albert Square is set to change forever after the EastEnders Christmas special.
Actor Jake Wood, who plays Max Branning, claims the festive period will be explosive for Walford, saying the Christmas Day episode will be “action-packed”.
Praising the BBC soap’s scriptwriters, he told Mirror Online: “I think in the whole time, the 12 years I’ve been at EastEnders, they’re the best scripts I’ve read.
“Literally there is something happening every second on screen. As I say, they’re the most action packed scripts I’ve ever read.
“You can’t pause to take a breath they’re pack full of action.”
When pressed for more information on the storylines, Jake added: “Will they change they Square forever? Undoubtedly. There are some major events that happen.”
Jake’s fellow cast members Jacqueline Jossa and Lorna Fitzgerald, who portray his on-screen daughters, have also hinted there will be dramatic scenes over the holidays.
On how this year’s Christmas Day episode will compare with 2007’s, when Max’s affair with Stacey Slater was exposed, Jacqueline told the Radio Times: “You know what, it’s got all the elements of that. You’ve got surprise, you’ve got shock, you’ve got Stacey, she’s a part of it.
“It’s the same sort of problems that are still there now but I think it tops drama-wise.”
And things are set to very wrong for the Branning family, with Jacqueline adding: “It’s catastrophic, the worst one yet. We don’t even get to sit down for dinner this year. The episodes are wicked.”
EastEnders airs on Christmas Day at 9pm on BBC One.
