We’ve always wondered how Love Island bosses choose the cast each year. Yes, we know that contestants either apply online or are scouted on social media, but what is it about a person’s Instagram profile that just screams Islander?
If you’re hoping to saunter through those villa doors one day and have been wondering the same thing then you’re in luck, as dumped Love Island 2024 OGs Munveer Jabbal and Patsy Field have shared what they did to get on the show.
The answer is actually pretty simple: just put yourself out there.
“I was just on my TikTok talking crap every day and just ranting about this, ranting about that,” Patsy said when we asked if she did anything special to make herself stand out.
“I think if you’re looking to go on it, you just need to post. If you’re not posting, how do they know that you’re a superstar in the making?”
Solid advice, indeed.
Munveer added, “I guess just good content, you know? Showing lifestyle, showing best angles and I think that’s what did it for me. Some cool videos and pictures.”
Revealing exactly what happens when you get contacted by a casting producer, Patsy continued, “It will be like, ‘Hey, I’m so and so from ITV. Are you single? We’re casting for a dating show at the moment, was wondering if you would be interested in having a call?’”
The Islanders explained that the casting team keep things very hush hush at first as they don’t even let slip that they’re working on Love Island, although Patsy admitted she quickly worked it out.
“No, you don’t have any idea,” Munveer explained. “They say dating show, but it’s very vague.”
Patsy, on the other hand, said, “I did. ITV dating show, there’s one real big one, isn’t there?”
