Avery Baker (played by Omar Lye-Fook) was only on our screens for a short period, but the EastEnders resident made a big impact on viewers with his heartbreaking storyline.
Who is Avery Baker?
Avery arrived in Walford and caused quite a stir after trying to drive through the market and saying that he needed to get his injured cat to the vet (spoiler alert: there was no cat and he just wanted a cigarette).
He made it up to everyone though after buying a round in the Queen Vic.
What happened to Avery Baker?
It quickly became clear that Avery went to Albert Square in search of his brother Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths).
At first, Mitch rejected Avery because he wasn't there for him after Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plumber) was killed and because of Avery's troubled past including dodgy deals and not being the best with money.
However Mitch's attitude changed when he discovered that Avery had terminal cancer.
The rest of Avery's time in Walford involved Mitch’s ex Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley), her daughter Bernadette (Clair Norris), and Chantelle’s children Mia (Mahalia Malcolm) and Mackenzie (Isaac Lemonius) taking care of him.
Avery's sons Finlay (Ashley Byam) and Felix (Matthew Morrison) later arrived after he was taken to hospital and helped give their dad the best last few days including his last wish of visiting the jerk chicken restaurant that they loved as kids.
Mitch, Karen, Bernadette and Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) all came together to decorate the laundrette and they have a Caribbean-themed party.
Avery later died in Mitch’s arms with his dying wish being for Mitch to take care of his sons.
