Over the years EastEnders has had some awful villains.

Archie Mitchell, Nasty Nick, Graham Foster and Derek Branning all spring to mind.

However Aaron Monroe - played by Charlie Wernham - is definitely one of the most recent residents we've not taken a liking to.

Aaron made his first appearance on EastEnders in 2021 and he was involved in the huge storyline surrounding far-right groups, racism and terrorism.

So we thought we'd take a look back at one of EastEnders' most vile characters to date and the chaos and terror he set upon Albert Square residents.

Who was Aaron in EastEnders?

Aaron arrived in Walford back in 2021 alongside his dad Harvey (Ross Boatman) and his sister Dana (Barbra Smith). At the beginning of his stint, viewers may have believed him to simply be opinionated, but it became quite clear, that he was actually a massive bigot.

He also had a relationship with Tiffany Butcher (Maisie Smith) and took a disliking to Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) who is a Muslim, after he started dating Aaron’s sister.

It later came to light that Aaron was the leader of a far-right group.

During his time on the Square he drew a swastika on Rgw Argee Bhajee, ordered his friends to beat Keegan Baker (Zack Morris) half to death and planned to set off a bomb.

What was Aaron's secret in EastEnders?

Aaron's secret was being a racist and the leader of a far-right group. He kept his views and affiliation with the gang under wraps, but his dad later found out about his activities.

Though Harvey had already known about his son’s beliefs in the past, he believed Aaron had changed. However he discovered the truth when he found Aaron's shirt covered in blood following a racially motivated attack.

What happened to Aaron in EastEnders?

After Harvey found out Aaron and his friend Neil Hughes; (Thomas Coombes) plans to bomb the mosque, he tried to persuade his son not to go through with the crime.

And while the bomb didn't go off, Aaron refused to leave the far-right group so Harvey reported him to the police. Aaron was sent to prison and was stabbed by an associate of Neil’s.

He was eventually charged with terror offences and is now rotting in prison.
