As we’re sure many brides will have realised by now, people have a LOT of opinions when it comes to weddings.
From colour schemes to canapés, everyone has their own idea about what makes the perfect day… and it can cause some friction on the day.
But nothing causes more debate than this age-old question: What is the perfect age to get married?
While we would say that you can’t put a number on love (who knows when you’ll find The One, after all?), experts have done some research into the subject.
And they think they’ve found the answer.
The study, conducted by sociologist Nick Wolfinger and published in the Institute of Family Studies, has revealed that the "perfect" age to get married is between 28 and 32.
So how did they come to this VERY SPECIFIC conclusion?
Well, apparently the people who fall within this five year age bracket when they tied the knot are the least likely to divorce in the ensuing years.
Nick explains: “The odds of divorce decline as you age from your teenage years through your late twenties and early thirties.
“Thereafter, the chances of divorce go up again as you move into your late thirties and early forties.”
Essentially, you’re likely to get divorced if you marry ‘too young’ - and your marriage is just as likely to end in tatters if you marry ‘too old’, as well.
Jeepers - that’s a bit restrictive, isn’t it?
We think that we’d much prefer to get married when (and if) we find the person we want to spend our lives with, not rush to tie the knot between that magical four-year age bracket.
What do you think?
