What exactly is a vegan diet?

The basis of a vegan diet is avoiding all foods made from, or that have traces of animal products, including dairy, meat and fish. Recently, honey has also been added to that list as it is a bee product, meaning it is an animal product. There has been plenty of debate over whether palm oil is vegan or not, technically it is, as it is not derived from any animal products. However, the farming of palm oil trees has been linked to an overall negative impact on the planet.
