If you're looking to book a relaxing spa break in Yorkshire, the Titanic Spa in Huddersfield could be just the ticket.
There are few things less relaxing in life than a spa break with one of your besties. Soothing treatments, lounging around by the pool and gossiping over a chilled glass of vino were all top of our list. And the Titanic Spa in Huddersfield didn’t disappoint.
Nestled on the edge of the Pennines in West Yorkshire, it’s surrounded by gorgeous rolling countryside and a pretty canal.
Originally an old textile mill built in 1911, the Titanic has loads of original charming features, combined with stylish modern design.
The spa has a 15-metre swimming pool as well as a sauna and steam room. But the highlight is the heat experience area, which is based on the idea of heating, then cooling the body to create a sense of deep relaxation.
There are a number of sauna and steam rooms, and an ice room where you can rub yourself down with ice chips. Although we weren’t brave enough to try that, I did jump into a plunge pool after much cajoling from another couple in one of the saunas, and found it a very refreshing experience!
There’s also an outdoor terrace area, which features a hot tub and has a seating area that’s perfect for sinking a few Sauvignon Blancs surrounded by stunning countryside.
There are lots of plush sofas, comfy chairs, and candles, dotted around the hotel and we saw plenty of people having a catch up over cream tea or bottle of champers, which gave the place a really nice, relaxed, feel.
As for the treatments, we opted for the Elemis Face and Body Sensation, a combination of hot stone massage and anti-ageing facial (if you’re pampering yourself, you may as well go all out!), which was so super-relaxing I didn’t want it to end.
After our treatments, we retired to our room, which was frankly double the size of my London flat! We were lucky enough to be given an apartment-style room with two bedrooms and bathrooms and a huge living room with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
The food at the Titanic was delicious too. For lunch, I had a yummy Caesar salad (I felt I had to have something fairly virtuous, we were at a spa!) and for dinner my guest and I tucked into a tasty spinach and feta parcel and a to-die-for chocolate salted caramel tart for dessert.
If you fancy a few after-dinner tipples, you can head to bar 1911, which is open ‘til 11pm. It’s a funky bar, with port hole windows and sprawling leather sofas, the perfect setting for a bit of man goss over a glass of champers.
Our stay at Titanic was just the tonic my mate and I needed – a relaxing environment, stunning scenery and blissful treatments. Whether you want a weekend away with the girls or a romantic mini-break with the boy, it’s the perfect place to recharge your batteries.
