We’ve all been there, haven’t we?
You’ve had one too many on a night out, you’ve woken up with a pounding headache, you look like one of the extras from The Walking Dead, and your body is craving something.
But, while many of us reach for the frying pan in instances such as these, it turns out we should be looking somewhere VERY different.
Yup, it’s all about the humble pear.
Manny Noakes, research director at CSIRO (Australia’s national science body), broke the news, saying: “Believe it or not, there are effects that pears may have on the amount of blood alcohol after an alcoholic drink.”
But don’t expect pear juice to be a miracle cure; as Munchies put it, you can’t just “wait until the morning of and just go ape on a bushel.”
Nope, instead you have to consume your pears BEFORE your night out.
Manny said firmly: “I should make the point that the effect was demonstrated if you take pear juice before alcohol consumption.”
Got that, everyone?
Add a few pears to your pre-drinking regime and you should be - according to science, anyway - fit as a fiddle the next day.
Anything’s worth a try, we guess…
