Fitness fab Michelle Heaton, 35, knows all too well the importance of fuelling your body correctly before hitting the gym.

She explains: "If you’re working out, you should have complex carbohydrates for breakfast."

Oats

“These are the best thing you can have after doing exercise. I have them for breakfast regularly.”

Egg and toast

“Scramble some egg whites and serve on two small wholemeal slices of toast.”

Cereal

“Have either Bran Flakes or two Weetabix with skimmed milk.”

On rest days, make sure you eat foods that will help your muscles restore and repair.

"If you haven’t worked out, then pick one of these options"

Egg white omelette

“Scramble two egg whites and mix in grilled tomatoes and mushrooms.”

** Turkey rashers**

“These are a great alternative to bacon, as they taste amazing but have hardly any fat or calories. Serve with scrambled egg whites.”
