Posture
Next time you use your smartphone, notice how you’re standing or sitting. Hunched over your screen? Thought so. Our addiction to smart phones is reportedly having a terrible effect on our postures. This can cause terrible back problems in later life if not corrected sooner. When using your phone try and note your posture and correct it.
Sickness
Your phone is probably the one object you hold and carry the most throughout your day. Even if you wash your hands thoroughly after using the toilet (which statistically most of us don’t!) your phone can harbour harmful bacteria that can cause sickness. Make sure you wipe your phone regularly with a disinfectant wipe and wash your hands regularly throughout the day to make sure you’re not carrying around a germ hotspot.
Hearing
Listen to music on your iPhone? Chances are your volume is WAY too loud. This can cause hearing issues in later life, including tinnitus. Always listen to music at a safe volume, which is always within the ‘white’ coloured volume icon. Yellow and red should be avoided.
Relationships
You might love getting a text from your other half, but research has shown that arguing over whatsapp and text message can seriously affect your relationship. Research also shows that texting too much can reduce relationship quality. Next time you find yourself annoyed at your other half wait until you see them before sending an impulsive text. Spend one on one time with each other without your iPhone. Your mental health will improve dramatically by reconnecting with your loved ones.
Sleep
Find yourself scrolling through Twitter until the wee hours? IPhones can have a negative effect on your sleep patterns which can wreck havoc with your overall health. Turn off your phone an hour before bed and use a separate device as an alarm. You won’t believe how much more of a restful night you’ll have.
Exercise
With the ease of iPhones comes a more sedentary lifestyle. More and more of us are foregoing exercise to spend time on our phones. Go out for a walk and enjoy the world WITHOUT looking through the lens of your iPhone camera. Better yet, go for a run if you can. Get moving!
Eye sight
Squinting at your eye phone screen is damaging our eyes, according to research. The light on the screen puts pressure on the back of our eyes which could be bad news for our eye sight in the future. Try not to read for too long on your phone and be sure to take regular breaks from screen time.
