How much do you spend per week?
About £300. It’s like an open house at the moment as my two sons are back from uni. I’ve done a bit of research into healthy eating, I cook a lot more now and I find shopping therapeutic.
Describe your daily diet...
For breakfast, I’ll have porridge or an egg white omelette with spinach or avocado on sourdough. Lunch is always meals I’ve prepped earlier, so chicken or fish with lots of salad or veg. I also make a snack box with celery and carrots, so I don’t snack on biscuits. For dinner I’ll make a salmon curry with brown rice, a Thai green curry or a maybe a fish barbecue. They’re all healthy meals but with lots of flavour.
Is there anything you refuse to eat?
I’m up for trying anything, to be honest.
What’s the strangest thing you’ve eaten?
I tried frogs’ legs in Paris once – but never again. Just the thought of it puts me off.
What would you cook to impress?
Instead of a Beef Wellington, I make a Salmon Wellington and everyone is really impressed with it. Between the salmon and pastry, I make a sauce from spinach, crème fraiche and Parmesan. It’s so nice.
Food hangover cure?
Egg and bacon sandwich with brown sauce.
Comfort food?
When I feel low, a lamb curry does the trick. It always makes me feel good.
Nutritionist
Juliette Kellow says, “It’s great that Seema eats regularly and her meals are well-balanced and packed with nutrients. It’s also good to see so much veg, high-quality protein and plenty of heart-healthy monounsaturated fats from oily fish and avocado. The snack box is a brilliant idea. If she wants a more substantial snack, a handful of nuts or pot of plain yoghurt with fruit are great choices.”
