If using a whole chicken, cut into 6 portion-sized pieces.

Brown the onions and garlic in a large non-stick frying pan.

Stick the cloves into the chicken pieces and add them to the frying pan. Cover with water.

Add the ginger and season with salt and black pepper.

Cook over a medium heat until all the water has evaporated (approx.1 hour). Serve hot.
