Looking incredible on a night out in a slinky dress recently, TOWIE’s Jessica Wright sparked widespread body envy with her new look, showing ex-boyfriend Ricky Rayment exactly what he’s been missing since their October split.
After hiring a personal trainer and hitting the gym earlier this year, Jess, 29, dropped from an already slim size 10 to a super-toned size 8 and admitted: “I feel good in everything I wear!”
But if, unlike Jess, you haven’t been sticking to a strict diet and training regime, there’s still hope. Follow our quick tips to tone your body, flatten your tum, and make you look a dress size smaller for 2015.
Follow these simple dos and don’ts for a flatter tum in just a few days, just like Jess!
Tips to beat the bloat in less than a week
DO Include garlic in your diet. It’s a powerful antioxidant, and acts as an anti-inflammatory in your gut.
DON’T drink fizzy drinks, which are full of gas. Also avoid chewing gum- you’ll swallow air as you chew, which makes your tummy swell.
DO eat as much veg as you like, but avoid broccoli, cabbage, and sprouts, which contain an indigestible carbohydrate that can bloat your tummy.
DON’T eat processed foods, even low-calorie ready meals. Most are packed with salt, which makes the body retain water.
DO concentrate on cutting out junk food and instead eat extra superfoods (such as berries) to compensate for it.
DON’T overload on carbs like bread and rice. They’re high in hard-to-digest sugars and make you hold on to water.
DO aim for around 40 per cent of your calories each day to come from lean protein, such as tuna steaks, beans and chicken breast.
DON’T overload on alcohol, coffee, tea, and acidic fruit juices- like orange and pineapple- which can irritate your gut.
DO aim to drink three litres of water a day. If your body is dehydrated it holds on to fat cells.
DON’T be tempted to drink lots of smoothies. They give you a burst of sugar but often don’t include the fibre that you get from eating a piece of fruit- you can drink 350 calories in a glass without even noticing.
DO drink flat ginger ale or ginger tea, or grate raw ginger into a stir-fry, as it aids digestion.
DO get lots of pre-party sleep. Studies show that you’ll crave calorific, fatty foods when you’re feeling run down.
