Iceland's President, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson (try saying that three times!) has said he'd like to ban pineapple on pizzas.
Iceland has long had a reputation for being a forward-thinking country and generally wonderful place to live (not only do they basically have zero crime, but it was also the first country to have a female president, and apparently the fourth happiest country in the world!), but in an unsually authoritarian move, president Guðni Th. Jóhannesson has said he'd like to BAN pineapple as a pizza topping.
The Marmite comment (as in: people either LOVE it or HATE it), came when president Guðni Th. Jóhannesson visited some high school students in Akureyi in northern Iceland.
Asked where he fell on the internationally important pineapple-on-pizza debate, president Guðni Th. Jóhannesson not only said that he was "fundamentally opposed" to pineapple as a pizza topping, but added that if he was able to pass laws on his own, he would BAN it altogether.
President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson's comments have been met by both joy and disgust online...
Some people applauded him for the move...
Some even suggested that this is just the kind of leadership we need here in the UK...
Some people were just happy for the chance to voice their pineapple-on-pizza disgust...
While others have nothing but love for the controversial topping...
But what do YOU think? Have your say on the pineapple-on-pizza debate in the poll below...
