How much do you spend?
About £100 a week. I mix it up between Waitrose, farmers’ shops and the butchers, I like to support local because the quality of food is so much better. I find supermarket fruit goes off in 48 hours. I also order a Riverford veg box for seasonable produce.
Describe your daily diet…
I have fresh lemon and ginger with hot tea first thing, I feel like it boosts my immune system. My toddler, Ezekiel, brings home every single cold and sick bug under the sun, but now I’m able to fight off illness a lot more. Mid-morning, I’ll have a smoothie with flaxseeds, chia seeds, frozen berries, banana and kefir, followed by a Cheerful Buddha Lion’s Mane coffee, it has MCT oil and Ashwagandha in it. I’ll usually have a second coffee, something like a vanilla latte.
Lunch lately has been soups, either carrot and coriander, or a good old tomato soup with a cheese toastie. For dinner I make chicken or steak using lots of spices like jerk seasoning. On the side I’ll do roast potatoes in rosemary and garlic, and veg. Or I’ll make a beef stew in the slow cooker served with mashed potato.
What do you snack on?
I love a packet of crisps, a handful of nuts, or sourdough crackers with chilli jam on top.
Anything you refuse to eat?
I can’t stand the texture or smell of tinned tuna. I’ll happily eat tuna steak, even oysters and cockles or any fish on the planet.
What do you cook to impress?
I’m an ’80s baby so it’s got to be a prawn cocktail for starter. My main would be Megan McKenna’s version of short rib ragu, which she posted on social media – it was one of the nicest things I’ve eaten in my life. Pudding is tiramisu, or apple pie and ice cream. When I have people over, I want to be full!
