According to scientists, a large percentage of us simply aren’t drinking enough water. With health experts recommending we neck 2 litres of water a day, are you risking dehydration by not drinking enough?

These symptoms of dehydration should act as a warning sign that you need to act NOW and drink more fluids. You’ll notice an improvement in your skin, mood and energy levels within a short space of time. Plus, water is the cheapest drink you can have!

Hunger

Starting to feel peckish? Chances are that you’re probably craving a big drink of water. When your body starts to feel weak and tired your brain wants an immediate pick me up causing you to crave a snack, before you reach for the crisps try sipping on a glass of water. You’re energy levels will probably go up a gear after a quick drink.

Bad breath

Having smelly breath is pretty unpleasant, both for sufferers and those within close proximity of them. This not-so-nice occurrence can potentially be avoided by keeping hydrated throughout the day.

Saliva production is the first thing to be affected when your body is running short on fluids. This means that more bacteria can build up in your mouth causing a bit of a nasty smell.

Those who see their oral hygienist or dentist about halitosis are often told to drink more water, proving that it really is an effective tool in combatting smelly breath.

Moodiness

Feeling grumpy? You might be able to quell and negative moods with a big glass of water.

Scientists have found that women who were dehydrated even by just 1% felt more angry, depressed and frustrated.

Before throwing a tantrum take some time out and have a drink of water, you might just be thirsty!

Poor concentration

It’s no doubt that dehydration can severalty affect your focus and concentration. If you’re mildly dehydrated then tasks can seem more difficult making errors more common place. Keep a bottle of water on your desk at work to insure you’re getting plenty of fluids and keeping your focus throughout the day.

Sore head

Got a splitting head ache? As well as taking pain killers make sure you have a very large glass of water.

Dehydration decreases the amount of fluid around the brain, meaning that your poor head will be suffering. Since prevention is better than a cure, make sure you’re drinking plenty of water during the day to stop that thirsty headache from rearing it’s head.
