From the 'air diet' that Madonna preached to Beyoncé's lemon and cayenne pepper detox, celebrity diets are known for being, well, a little er...extreme.
However, some celebrity weight loss secrets aren’t as drastic as you might think and could help you reach your health goals.
Proving that you don’t always need a Hollywood salary and personal trainer to get into shape, these celebrities have seen results from getting rid of just one thing from their diets.
Adele gave up sugar
Sugar is often cited as the main culprit for weight gain. It's highly addictive and can sneak into your diet in the most unexpected places. Adele recently revealed that her trimmer figure is down to curbing her sugar habit – and all with one simple change. Like many Brits, she has a bit of an addiction to tea. Speaking to The Sun, she said, "I used to drink 10 cups a day with two sugars in each." Since switching up her caffeine routine, she's lost weight and looks happier and healthier.
Sugar usually comes combined with fat and refined starch. Replacing it with natural, unprocessed foods like fruit and nuts will give you an energy boost without the toxins.
Khloe Kardashian ditched the dairy
Khloe Kardashian is known for her amazing curves; this year she’s been the centre of attention with a sleeker physique. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star told NewBeauty magazine, “I'm obsessed with cheese and milk, but eliminating them from my diet (I did it gradually) made the biggest difference”. Following this diet and drinking more water not only helped her lose 11 pounds, it also had her skin looking more radiant and gave her an energy boost.
Whilst dairy is a valuable part of our diet, cheese is surprisingly high in sugar and packed full of carbs and fat. You can replace high-fat dairy products with beans, fish and nuts for a healthier dose of calcium.
Victoria Beckham gave up gluten
It might be controversial but Victoria Beckham says her gluten-free diet helps her stay in shape and feeling great. Miley Cyrus has also taken to Twitter to preach the benefits of cutting out pasta and bread, something that health experts have disputed.
While for coeliac sufferers it’s essential to cut it out of their diet, experts claim that for non-sufferers it can lead to a lack of essential vitamins. If you do decided to get rid of gluten, replace wholegrains with quinoa as a healthy alternative.
Charlotte Crosby ditched the alcohol
Known for her partying antics on Geordie Shore, Charlotte Crosby got into shape last year by banning alcohol. She also adopted a low-fat diet and began to exercise regularly, but she credits reducing her drinking to making the biggest difference to her waistline.
While most of us probably don't often have her favourite drink (a full pint of creamy Baileys!), cutting down on alcohol is a small change you can make for big results. Not only does it contain hidden calories, it also temporarily prevents your body from burning fat. If you regularly go over the recommended daily units, curbing what you drink could really improve how you feel.
