How much do you spend?

Around £150. I recently followed a vegan diet for a week or two and enjoyed going in-store and buying what’s in season. I found my bill was slightly less. Meat can be expensive.

Describe your daily diet…

Breakfast is sourdough bread with peanut butter, sliced banana and chia seeds. For lunch, it’s usually salmon with an apple and beetroot salad and dairy-free cheese. Dinner could be pasta, like tortellini filled with truffle, or meat-free sausages in a red wine broth. Or gnocchi. Alternatively, seabass with veg and rice.

What do you snack on?

Protein bars, fruit and yoghurt.

Is there anything you refuse to eat?

I suffer with IBS and follow a low-fodmap diet (one that’s low in fermented carbs). I have to cut out foods like broccoli, garlic, mushrooms and onions that could trigger my symptoms. I also don’t eat chicken, turkey or red meat any more.

What would you cook to impress?

A Mexican dish like quesadillas, using tortilla wraps, black beans, avocado, sweetcorn, jalapenos, dairy-free chive cheese and roasted peppers.

Food hangover cure?

A savoury bagel with meat-free bacon rashers, a fried egg, ketchup and rocket.

If I fancy a sweet one, I’ll add chopped fig and yoghurt and chia seeds.

Verdict:

Nutritionist Juliette Kellow says: “Alexandra’s diet is balanced with a mix of carbs and protein, and healthy fats from nuts, seeds and oily fish.

“It can be hard to get the nutrients you need with a low-fodmap diet, as in the early stages lots of foods are restricted to identify IBS triggers. Always follow this type of diet with supervision from a registered dietitian.”
