Zoe Ball has paid tribute to her late boyfriend Billy Yates after he hanged himself earlier this year.

Radio host Zoe returned to her BBC Radio 2 show today after Billy was found dead in his Putney home in South London in May.

The broadcaster said Billy “truly was special” and added that “it’s been a pretty tough time having lost by dear boyfriend Billy”.

She said of him: “He loved to laugh and loved to dance so, Billy, this is one for you,” and she then played Frank Wilson’s song Do I Love You (Indeed I Do).

Zoe thanked her friends, television presenters Kate Thornton and Suzi Perry, as well as former Spice Girl Melanie C for their support.

She said: “Your messages have meant the world to us all so I send you love from all my heart.”

Billy was previously a cameraman on BBC series Antiques Roadshow but was found dead at his home on May 4 this year.

His funeral took place at the end of last month and Zoe said she would “always love” him.

The pair became friends at the BBC before they started seeing each other more seriously in 2017.
