Zoë had understandably chosen not to speak out about Billy's death publicly - but to promote her charity bike ride and the subsequent documentary, the mum-of-two spoke to Radio Times ahead of the event.
She told the publication that she'd been left questioning whether she could have done more to help him - but acknowledged that that was a dark path to go down.
She also expressed regret over their last conversation, saying: "It was just that moment and that feeling of, 'Oh my god I love him so much, we’ll find some help and it will all be okay'. And I wish I’d told him that."
But it was last night's documentary that really hit viewers hard, when she broke down in tears discussing the last time she spoke to him.
Struggling to speak, she told the cameras: "He got on his bike and he cycled off and he turned round and he blew me a kiss goodbye, and that was the last time I saw him.
"And I feel really grateful that I got my goodbye in a way. And I think that was my goodbye."
Viewers took to Twitter to praise Zoë for her honesty, adding that they'd been left in floods of tears.
Zoë began dating cameraman Billy Yates shortly after she split from husband Norman Cook after 19 years of marriage in September 2016.
But she has found love again with building firm boss and dad-of-three Michael Reed, who she met just before Christmas last year.
A source close to Zoë told The Sun that although it's "moving pretty fast," Zoë is "head over heels" for Michael.
They said: "She is the happiest she has been in a long time which is great – she is back in a good place."
We're rooting for you, Zo!
