Back in the summer, we were left reeling by news that pop’s young golden couple were no more - with Zayn reportedly calling off his engagement to Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards via text.
But in an interview with America’s Fader magazine this week, Zayn has denied doing the deed in such a callous way.
He explained: ‘I love her [Perrie] a lot, and I always will, and I would never end our relationship over four years like that.
'She knows that, I know that, and the public should know as well.'
When the 22-year-old was asked what he did do to end the relationship however, Malik clammed up, saying he didn’t want to go into details.
Since his high profile split, and going solo, Zayn has been working on new music whilst also being pictured out about about with various young women.
Last month, he was seen leaving a London restaurant with Wallis Day - an actress who previously starred on Hollyoaks.
He has also been linked to Burberry model Neelam Gill.
Meanwhile Perrie, who has appeared remarkable together since her love split, is just about to release a new single with her Little Mix bandmates.
And it appears the single, entitled ‘Hair’ may well channel some of the singer’s anger at Zayn, with a recent interview quoting Perrie helping to explain the song.
As the other band mates explain the bad words used in the song, Jade Thirwell says: ‘Well you know sometimes when you break-up with someone they are that word so it's alright to say in a song.’
Perry then steps in: ‘Yeah it is. He was just a b***-end and I knew it.'
