The 29-year-old, who was crowned the winner of this year’s X Factor at the weekend, insisted becoming famous hasn’t changed the way he feels about Jessica and he still fully intends to marry her.
Appearing on This Morning, Ben said of proposing: “Yeah I’m going to. I don’t want to give too much away… but it’s definitely going to happen in the New Year, there’s a lot of crazy stuff happening at the moment so we’ll just have to see where it leads.”
But Jessica, who has been in a relationship with Ben for six years, has insisted she doesn’t want Ben to feel pressured.
She told the Mail Online: “When the time is right it will happen, and when it does, I’d like it to be private and nothing too glitzy.”
After it was revealed her first date with Ben was a candlelit McDonald’s, we don’t think Jessica has anything to worry about there!
While Ben has been busy becoming the country’s newest pop star, Jessica admitted there hasn’t been much time for date nights.
She said: “It’s been hard not to seeing him and contact has been difficult as he is so busy, but he calls and texts whenever he can and I always get a call before bed which is lovely.
“He’s been very good at keeping me as involved as much as possible and he’s so down to earth – he has stayed very grounded throughout the whole competition.”
